The Creative Process of Erik Matti: Rebelde Class Batch 19

For over eight years of providing accessible film education to aspiring filmmakers, Rebelde makes another of its “firsts”. This November 27, for the first time, the Filipino genre maestro Erik Matti
will be spearheading the 19th Rebelde Workshop!

Rebelde Class is a session-based filmmaking workshop program of Rebelde that offers an immersive and accessible film education to everyone. Regardless of the boundaries the pandemic caused, Rebelde continues to ignite aspiring filmmakers as they can attend workshops remotely through these exclusive online classes.

Erik Matti, one of the most celebrated Filipino directors, took a big step up when his feature film “On The Job: The Missing 8” arrived in Venice Film Festival this year, and received a five-minute standing ovation. Its first part “On The Job” also made a critical splash in Director’s Fortnight section at Cannes in 2013 where it was nominated for the SACD Prize, and went on to global and domestic acclaim. He is also known for his other features “Mano Po 2: My Home”, “Gagamboy”, “Seklusyon”, “Honor Thy Father”, “Kuwaresma” & “BuyBust” – films that span from different types of genres. His latest film On The Job: Missing 8 receives 5-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival and its lead actor won Best Actor.

This November, learn how Erik Matti creates his films – from planting his concepts, seeding it with ideas, propagating it into actual stories and turning it into films. Get to know his Creative Process for this one-day workshop with Rebelde Class Batch 19. All for only P1,500.

REBELDE COMMUNITY

Rebelde is a diverse community of aspiring filmmakers from different parts of the country, which is founded by J.E. Tiglao, a young, independent filmmaker based in the Philippines. Together with his comrades, they made films that have showcased in Cinemalaya, Gawad Urian, and other film festivals abroad. They also made their first feature film, Metamorphosis, the first Filipino intersex film and bagged most of the awards at the Cinema One Originals.

Rebelde also created breakthrough events like the Rebelde Film Camp, a unique jamboree of filmmakers in a secluded area to learn filmmaking and to celebrate the magic of cinema.
