THE BEDAN, the official student publication of San Beda University-Manila, will conduct a journalism seminar entitled ‘MULAT’ this coming January 11 and 12, 2019 at the Abbot Lopez Hall-San Beda University.

It is a two-day event which will be comprised of Informative Seminar about national issues and responsible journalism for Day 01 and a Workshop seminar with regards to writing, cartooning and photojournalism for Day 02 – all accompanied with respected journalists to give their talks and lectures.

Our speakers are Mr. John Nery, former Editor in Chief of Inquirer.Net, Ms. Tarra Quismundo, the Deputy Editor of ABS-CBN News, Mr. Dominic Ochoa, Sports Editor at Philippine Daily Inquirer, Ms. CharinaEchaluce, creative writer at Wishcraft creative Affairs Team, Inc., Sir Jimmy Domingo, senior lecturer at University of the Philippines-Diliman, and to give an element of surprise, wait for more.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, the chair of Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality committee will grace the said event and help address the issues regarding responsible journalism with her experience as being a journalist in her pre-Senate years, another thing to look forward to in the said event.

“MULAT” (which means ‘awakening’ in English) is an initiative of The Bedan to encourage students and not just student-journalists to propel maximum student inclusion and at the same time, promote responsible student activism.

The Bedan envisions a society that would encourage a well-founded political discourse with arguments based on facts and not just mere hear-says or what we should most appropriately refer to as ‘posts’ considering our generation today. With that vision, we crafted “MULAT.”

In light with this, we are encouraging students from high school to college level to join our event.  There is no limit as to the number of delegates.

For further details on the registration process and respective fees, please see our official event Facebook page “Mulat: Tungo sa Makatotohanang Pagpapahayag.”
