This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Ateneo Musicians’ Pool (AMP)—the premiere music organization of the Ateneo de Manila University. Originally formed for the fair treatment of Atenean artists, it has blossomed into the organization that it is today: an avenue for musicians and music-lovers to interact and share their passion for music. In AMP’s twenty years, it has proudly produced bands such as Never the Strangers, Spongecola, Chicosci, Imelda, and She’s Only Sixteen. To this day, AMP continues to nurture and develop the many talents of its members not only in music, but also in design, sound engineering, and writing.
In commemoration of this milestone, and the events, initiatives, and people that have contributed to what AMP has grown into today, the organization will be hosting a two-week-long celebration from May 28 to June 11, 2022.
Among these projects is a two-day music conference to be held from June 3-4 entitled FUSION: Above and Beyond Music. This conference will feature talks and workshops from prominent AMP members and alumni guest speakers such as Jenny Lapus, Tala Atayde, Mare Collantes-Lina, Jhofer Eleria, Javier Pimentel (lui.), and Andrew Depano.
Capping off the celebration is a two-day recital-concert series entitled SYNERGY: A Celebration of 25 Years of Music, in Collaboration with Big Baby Studios and 123Block. This will be held from June 10-11 and will feature performances from AMP’s very own members, A-Mart, DJ STUARTTHEMINION, andi frisco, Matthew Munarriz, Ben Mara, Timothy Pe, Jammy Asuncion, Arthur Gatmaitan, Lagooon, Tokyo Escape, DROGA/GAG, The Name of This Band Is (Not) Cherry Cola, neu.wav, Rai and Javi, We Do Care, Room For 3, Casa de la Coco, This Band’s Name is…, and Seizure Salad. Performing alongside them are alumni and guest acts, The Itchyworms, Rusty Machines, Mind Money Circuit, and The Cohens.
Don’t miss out on anything. Be sure to tune in to AMP’s social media pages for any updates!
