To make his last wish happen, his wife, Ashley, and thousands of fans started posting fan arts, videos, and petitions online with the hashtag #ForceForDaniel. The campaign got so much attention even from Luke Skywalker himself, actor Mark Hamill. Other actors whose support were attracted are Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and John Boyega, who stars in The Force Awakens as a new character called Finn.

His wish was granted when Disney permitted him with a special private advanced screening last Thursday (US local time) last week.

He has been a Star Wars fan since he was eight years old.

Two years ago, he was diagnosed with the rare connective tissue cancer spindle cell sarcoma.

In September, he was given one to two months left. By that time, he was told that his lungs were 90% covered with tumors.

The hashtag #ForceForDaniel has been getting a lot of tributes. Many are expressing their gratitude to JJ Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot, for granting Mr. Fleetwood’s last wish.

Our sincerest condolences to his wife, family, and friends. May the force be with you, Mr. Fleetwood.
