Taste of Kebab: Authentic Mediterranean Food in Quezon City

Taste of Kebab: Authentic Mediterranean Food in Quezon City

If you are looking for a Mediterranean restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of the malls in Quezon City, then this restaurant is the perfect place for you. Taste of Kebab opened early in 2014 and has since been serving authentic Mediterranean food.

The place is not overly big; it is just the right size for a starting restaurant. Their staff is friendly and cordial and always ready to assist you with your every need. Some of the things we noticed is that they use high-quality ingredients and that their serving sizes are huge, making Taste of Kebab the ideal place to hang out with your friends when you are on a budget.

When we arrived at the place we didn’t expect it to be nice and cozy because the area it’s in is not exactly high end. However, once we got inside, we noticed that the place was well-maintained and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. It had paintings on the walls depicting different Mediterranean scenes.

We were then presented with a wide array of their food – almost everything that was on the menu actually!

First up on the menu was their Hummus Pizza. We were surprised to see this on their menu since most Mediterranean restaurants we got to try do not have this. They also have a Kebab Pizza, but we were told that the hummus one is their bestseller. Tastewise, we would give this a 4.5 out of 5, mainly because it does not come with hot sauce.

After the pizza we were served our drinks, Louis chose their Mango Lassi while I decided to try their bestselling drink, the Choc-nut Delight. The drinks are really good, even though the Mango Lassi is a little bland; it tastes more like yogurt and less like mango. The Choc-nut delight, on the other hand, is heaven in a glass. It is topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with choc-nut.

For the main course, we were served Chicken Curry, Sizzling Beef Chelo, with Java Rice and their bestseller, the Jumbo Beef Kebab.

When the Chicken Curry arrived we looked at each other because we thought that it would taste too soupy, but it is actually one of the best-tasting Chicken Curry we have ever tried. Even though the sauce is runny, it is flavorful and the chicken is soft and not dry.

They told us that that their Jumbo Beef Kebab is their bestseller and it is no surprise. This humongous plate of tasty beef kebab is like heaven. Unlike other beef kebabs, this is tasty, soft and well seasoned.

Last on the main course menu was their Sizzling Beef Kebab. This is a so-so for us, mainly because it was served slightly cold and the gravy is too sweet for our liking. The Java Rice is tasty, though.

For dessert, we were served Baklava – a rich, sweet pastry made of layered filo dough filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey. It is good and tastes like the traditional Baklava that is usually found in Central and Southwest Asia.

Lastly, for those who are willing to try more exotic food, Taste of Kebab also serves Ox Brain with your choice of either Roti or Pita bread. It is tasty, well seasoned and fresh.
