Tapenade Opens in Discovery Primea Makati, Serves Delicious and Affordable Mediterranean Cuisine

 

Tapenade: “Quaint but definitely a game changer.”

 

As I walked out of Discovery Primea to Ayala Avenue, I can’t help but think about all the good things the hotel’s restaurant— Tapenade —offers its clients. Really well-made Mediterranean food, relaxing interiors that veer away so far away from the usual uptight feel you get from luxury hotels that one can’t help but find it easier to focus on the food being served, and world-class customer service. 

Named after a traditional Provençal condiment of finely-chopped or pureed olives, capers, anchovies and olive oil, Tapenade, for the most part, stays true to the essence of the type of food the region is famed for. Flavors and freshness are never compromised and preparation ensures that each dish remains healthier compared to most other regional cuisines. 

Some of the highlights of the restaurant includes an open kitchen, a brick pizza oven which encourages interaction between the chefs and the guests, and a salad room (open only during lunch and dinner) where guests can come and make their own plate of greens, veggies, noodles, gourmet dressings and vinaigrettes, specialty cheese, true artisanal bread and freshly-sliced premium cold-cuts.

“Mediterranean Cuisine is very friendly to the Philippine palate thanks to our Spanish heritage. We carefully selected the dishes in Tapenade to showcase flavors that have familiar yet unique tastes,” says Chikiamco.

 

Among the dishes we had are: Croquettas, which is a personal favorite; Stone Baked Feta Cheese; Davao Goat Cheese Pizza, which I recommend you enjoy with a bit of honey mixed with chili sauce; one of the restaurant’s best sellers, Pumpkin Agnolotti; Porcini Crusted US Angus Rib-eye Steak, which is honestly one of the best stakes I’ve ever had; Turkish Baklava (a more delicate take on its Greek sister) and Gianduja Cake.

 

 

 

 

But personally, what separate Restaurant Tapenade from other hotel restaurants are its people. You just get a generally positive vibe from everyone. Even the way they greet their guests and wish them a good meal is very genuine. 

And they really pay attention to your needs. Running out of water? No need to call for a waiter. You can be sure there’s always someone nearby with a pitcher on hand waiting to fill up your glass again. Feeling a bit cold? Just raise your hand and ask for a scarf. Yes, the restaurant lends scarves to guests at no extra charge.

Tapenade is perhaps one of the best things to happen in Makati’s dynamic dining scene. I’m just really glad there’s a quaint little place me and my friends can go to for really well-made meals served with a genuinely friendly smile.
