The sky isn’t the limit after all, when it comes to towering skyscrapers!
Plans have been officially unveiled to construct the world’s first U-shaped skyscraper in New York City, a certainly quirky addition to the Manhattan skyline!
The U-shaped skyscraper is going to push architectural limits, and the project will be called “The Big Bend”.
The inspiration for the unique structure? Zoning restrictions.
The Big Bend project is being carried out by Oiio Studio, a world-renowned design team that previously had a run-in with the land usage restrictions.
“If we manage to bend our structure instead of bending the zoning rules of New York we would be able to create one of the most prestigious buildings in Manhattan.”
The Big Bend will be the longest skyscraper in the world at roughly 4,000 feet, surpassing the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
