Zero Hour II: Tula, Kanta, Kape – A Celebration of Passion for Music and Literature
The UP Town Center is full of people gathered for a passion for music and literature. It’s a night of appreciation to underground, independent arts, things that need to be discovered and exposed to the public.
The “Zero Hour II: Tula, Kanta, Kape,” organized by the UP Underground Music Community, keep their local patrons coming back with their stream of performers who entertained the audience with their own music and original poems.
Performers who graced the night with beautiful songs include The Sun Manager, BATA, Bullet Dumas, Kai Honasan, Extrapolation, Ivan’s Theory, Shirebound and Busking and Ang Bandang Shirley. While poets Christian Tablazon, Juan Miguel Severo (woohoo idol!), Joel Toledo and Marc Gaba made the crowd breathless with every line and stanza that they recited.

Aside from music and poetry, there was also a graffiti wall where you could let your creativity and voice out, loom bands and souvenir booths, and (yaaaaay!) a book sale (I was soooo happy to be able to browse through their stacks of paperbacks and hardbounds at affordable prices. Read: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows hardbound and in good condition for Php400. I was hysterical)! And of course, there were complimentary donuts courtesy of J. Co and coffee by Marciano’s Café and Bakery free for everyone! All of my favorite things in the world in one venue. What more could I ask for?

Being a first-timer of TKK, my experience was one that I truly celebrate until now. With a thirst of discovering new and independent music and a deep love for literature (since I started writing poems as well), each presentation astounded and woke my senses. The jovial feeling even lingered for hours after the event. The night seemed magical and bright – one that truly embodied the type of environment and community that I know I belong in. It’s a festivity and gala I will keep coming back to.
As of this writing, I am already encouraging my friends to join next year’s TKK. Imagine the thrill as months get closer to its next installment. And when TKK comes again, look for me there and say hello. A first-timer or not, let’s all unwind and relax to music and literature that thug at our hearts and make us feel rightat home.
