READ: Yahoo! Messenger is shutting down next month

Before there were Facebook Messenger, and Instagram’s and Twitter’s direct messages, there was the iconic and legendary Yahoo! Messenger. I’m sure a lot of us have very unforgettable memories on that messaging platform.

Well, start saving those years-old conversations because Yahoo! has announced that it will be shutting down Yahoo! Messenger starting next month.

They made the announcement through a message on their Help page.

“Yahoo Messenger will no longer be supported after July 17, 2018,” the message stated.

Explaining the shutdown, the company says, “As the communications landscape continues to change over, we’re focusing on building and introducing new, exciting communications tools that better fit consumer needs.”

Old conversations may be downloaded by its users for the next six months, as advised by Yahoo. As for your Yahoo IDs, it is still usable for other Yahoo platforms such as Yahoo Mail.
