LOOK: We Re-imagined the Ladies of Game of Thrones as These Filipino Actresses

Words and graphics by Kathlene Masilongan

We’re nearing the end of the last season of our beloved high fantasy drama, Game of Thrones, and what better way to send this series off than by using our creative noggins and fantasizing about a Filipino cast? For now, I’m just going to present the ladies because I love them because I believe they’re integral parts of the show and its plot as a whole. Without these strong female characters, the show just wouldn’t be the same! (And it’s totally not because I had a hard time coming up with actors for the male leads. Definitely not.) Keep in mind that I had early GoT seasons in mind when I made this list up!

Disclaimer: This is just for fun, okay? You don’t have to agree with me and my friends who’ve helped me create this fancast. If anything, please share your own fancast for Filipino GoT in the comments!

12. Rhian Ramos as Ygritte

Rhian has proven over time that she can handle being a spunky character, and who else can handle Ygritte’s spunk other than her? Now we only have to find her Jon Snow.

YGRITTE

11. Glaiza de Castro as Yara Greyjoy

Yara is one of Game of Thrones’ most underrated characters, at least in my opinion. She’s headstrong and knows her worth; a confident woman who can rule despite the men around her. Glaiza would embody that perfectly!

YARA G

10. Jennylyn Mercado as Melisandre

Melisandre, the red woman, has a sort of mystery and sensuality in her that cannot be seen in other characters. Jennylyn Mercado, with years of experience under her belt, would totally kill it in this role.

MELISANDRE

9. Gloria Diaz as Olenna Tyrell

An icon, Gloria Diaz would be able to handle Olenna’s role as the matriarch of the Tyrell family beautifully. She’s beautiful, but her gaze can definitely kill.

OLENNA

8. Iza Calzado as Ellaria Sand

Oberyn’s alluring paramour, Ellaria Sand is a woman who knows what she wants. Yes, she can be a little scary sometimes, which is exactly why Iza Calzado would make a great Ellaria.

ELLARIA

7. Eula Valdez as Catelyn Tully-Stark

While Eula Valdez has been taking on more soft, motherly roles these days, let’s not forget how she was also Amor Powers at one point in her life. These characteristics make up the two sides of the Catelyn Tully coin and she’d be brilliant as the Stark children’s mother.

CATELYN

6. Andrea Brilliantes as Arya Stark

We all know by now that Andrea can play tough characters. *coughMargakumalmakacough* What better way to flex those acting muscles by casting her as spunky Arya!

ARYA

5. Nadine Lustre as Margaery Tyrell

Nadine is fierce. That much is true and we love that about her. She could totally bring in that fierceness when she enters the picture as dear Margaery.

MARGAERY

4. Solenn Heussaff as Arianne Martell

In a perfect world, HBO’s Game of Thrones would have Arianne Martell and they would have done the Dorne plot better. In the books, Arianne is Dorian Martell’s eldest daughter and the heir to Dorne. Solenn would just look kickass, okay?

ARIANNE

3. Liza Soberano as Sansa Stark

Liza has a certain charm to her that could fit Sansa in the early seasons very well but she could also handle the intensity of the later seasons.

SANSA

2. Yassi Pressman as Daenerys Targaryen

A popular fancast and for good reason! Who can deny Yassi and Emilia Clarke’s similarities?

DANY

1. Angel Aquino as Cersei Lannister

This fancast started when I was watching Glorious and thought Angel Aquino would do amazing as Cersei. Boom! The list is born! An actual queen in her own right, this versatile actress would be able to deliver Cersei’s fire like no one else can.
