“The X-Files” is Getting an Animated Series, Here are the Details

X Files

For those who believe in aliens, the truth is here: hit ’90s show The X-Files is getting an animated spin-off! It is currently in development, with a script and presentation commitment at Fox.

The spin-off is titled The X-Files: Albuquerque and will follow misfit agents who handle the wacky cases that Agents Mulder and Scully don’t. Yes, it’s going to be a comedy.

Chris Carter, who created the original show, will be back to executive produce this project.

In case you have never heard of The X-Files before, it was a nine-season science fiction series in the ’90s that touched on unexplained, out-of-this-world (literally) cases. It starred David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, the guy who believed in conspiracy theories, and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, the realist of the duo. It was a pop culture phenomenon that hit the world – and our minds and hearts – by storm.

In 2016, the agents reunited for a six-episode 10th season, followed by a 10-episode 11th season in 2018.

Sadly, Duchovny and Anderson won’t be part of this project.

There is no word yet when it will be released.
