According to a report made by Numbeo, a Serbia-based research firm, the Philippines is ranked 9th in countries with the worst traffic in the whole world and ranked 4th in Asia. The study done compared 88 countries where each was computed with a “traffic index” that was used for comparison and ranking.
According to Numbeo:
The composite index of time consumed in traffic due to job commute, estimation of time consumption dissatisfaction, carbon dioxide consumption estimation in traffic, and overall inefficiencies in the traffic system.
The Philippines got a “traffic index” of 202.3.
The country’s traffic index is just a tad higher than Thailand, which got 200.79. On the other hand, Bangladesh appeared to have the worst traffic index in Asia with 280.43. On second and third spots in Asia are Jordan (232.05) and Iran (214.14).
Other countries included on list of top 10 worst traffic situation are Kenya, Egypt, Bolivia, Nigeria, and South Africa.
More details on the country’s traffic situation included Numbeo mentioning that the average travel time for a one-way commute in the Philippines is about 45.50 minutes.
Furthermore, the long commute in the country gave a dissatisfaction rate of 3,724.39 on the traffic index. This can be translated into the exponentially increasing dissatisfaction with each minute after one-way commute time is longer than 25 minutes.
On the list of 88 countries, Turkmenistan got the last spot with a traffic index of 45.49. This can be roughly interpreted as having the most efficient traffic management system among all the countries compared.
