SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy: Community Program for Young Leaders

With young people forming about 1.8 billion individuals of the world population, youth involvement has become an integral part of solving the different global challenges we face today. The youth plays an important part in responding to the world’s greatest challenges not only because they are the future generations but also because they are both the contributor and beneficiary of these solutions. This is why it is now more important than ever to empower young people to act on these issues and create a better tomorrow for themselves. This idea is what motivated Youthink Center, a youth “think+do” tank that focuses on global challenges and opportunities, to be established. The mission of Youthink Center is to give young people the platform to further expand their knowledge and involve them in solving different world problems. 

Youthink Center fulfills its mission by creating innovative ways to achieve the UN Sustainable Goals. They also create programs for Social Business, Youth Leadership, and the Environment with the young leaders at their forefront. This year, as part of its commitment to the UN 2030 Agenda, Youthink is proud to present the SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy, the biggest community program around the world for young leaders launching on the 22nd of September 2020 during the 75th United Nations General Assembly High Level Week.

The goal of the SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy is to empower young people to take action for the Sustainable Development Goals. It also aims to teach them about Social Business so that young people may use this to achieve the SDGs. As part of today’s global challenges, the event also aims to hone the capacities of young leaders for them to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this, participants will have the opportunity to attend high-level events during the UNGA Week. They will also have the chance to attend international level training sessions on social business and have a dialogue with Youth4SDG Champions. 

All these events and activities offered in the SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy are inspired by  Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus. As he said, we are at a time when we have the opportunity to rebuild our nations. With the COVID-19 Pandemic affecting all countries in the world, this is an opportunity for us to build new paths towards prosperity with great involvement of the youth. 

As we take on this goal of achieving the UN SDGs, we are inviting young people from all over the world to join us and be part of this program.
