People LOVE long weekends. With Philippine holidays always marked on our calendars, we make sure we make the most of these precious rest days. And what better way to enjoy a long weekend than by going out on a fun trip out of town?
One of the places that catch the interest of many is Baler. One of the best surf spots in the country, the waves in Baler can really get you stoked. What with the clear water, fresh air and a picturesque view, good times will roll. Just like its awesome waves.
I got to visit Baler one weekend to experience what this beautiful place has to offer. And, boy, what a weekend to remember it was. All thanks to Travel Factor, who arranged this awesome 2-day mini vacay to Baler, and to Smart, through which we were able to connect and share our great moments with our friends and loved ones!
First off, we had a great time with the waves! Because what’s a trip to Baler without learning how to surf? No need to worry if you have zero knowledge on this water sport. There are a lot of instructors offering surfing lessons available along the beach!
For our next adventure, we trekked the mountain to get to the Mother Falls. The 30-minute walk to the top can be really tiring, but once you get to the falls, you’ll see it is all worth it. The view is just jaw-dropping. Nothing like the crystal-clear, chilly water from the falls to give you satisfaction after the climb!
And finally, a visit to Baler’s chosen sites completed our journey. The amazing rock formations will make you appreciate how beautiful our country is. Survivors of the Baler tsunami decades ago, on the other hand, will let you in on the bravery of Filipinos. Especially on times, like they have experienced, when it involves the survival of your family.

We also visited the big Balete Tree, where you can enter and have pictures taken inside! Ask the locals there to take your group photos and you’ll be amazed with their picture-taking skills! They sure have a lot of tricks!
