Walk the Moon in Manila: Catch Them at Ayala Malls This Week!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of artists like David Bowie, The Smiths, The Cure and other artists of that era. In fact, I sometimes start to wonder if maybe I was born into the wrong decade what with what my friends call a ‘strange taste in music’. You can’t really blame me, though. Amazing music like that simply doesn’t get made anymore… until Walk the Moon came around a few years ago, anyway.

Walk the Moon is a Cincinnati-based indie rock band that is legendarily revolutionary for me. They made my kind of music cool again and they actually made it possible for me to relate to my friends music-wise for the first time. So, when I heard they were coming to Manila, I marked my calendar with their mall tour dates and waited. And then, out of nowhere, Ayala Malls escalated my happiness and excitement even further when they told me I could cover their press con which happened yesterday.

Walk the Moon‘s lead singer and keyboardist Nicholas Petricca, bassist Kevin Ray, drummer Sean Waugaman, and guitarist Eli Maiman sat down with the press at Fairmont Hotel yesterday to share more about their music, their girlfriends (yes, they’re all sadly taken), and their future plans with us. Heck, they even gave us samples of their best dance moves, proving that they are confident in their skin and up for anything.

Host Joyce Pring made the press con even more engaging and fun by being one of the very few hosts that I know who really knew her stuff when it came to all things Walk the Moon. Having a host who knows her stuff really makes a huge difference at events like this.

While Walk the Moon made their first mark in 2012 with their single “Anna Sun”, it is their newer single “Shut Up and Dance” that today’s generation is more familiar with. The song comes from their latest album “Talking is Hard”, which the band shared was marathon-written with many more songs ready to be recorded and shared with the world. All of the songs on that album is amazing, but I highly recommend you listen to “Aquaman”. Over and over again.

If you love Walk the Moon’s quirky and unique music as much as I do, then you will be thrilled to hear that they have live performances lined up at Ayala Malls this week. They kickstarted their shows at Alabang Town Center yesterday, but if you missed that one, don’t miss anymore from now on (or go to one of the shows, at the very least). They promise a fun and exciting show that is sure to be much more expensive a few years from now when they get even bigger – because, trust me: they will.
