Music is universal—and so is our love for it. Whether you’re an R&B person, or feeling a rock slash heavy metal vibe, enjoying solemn melodies of classical music, or jamming to pop and hip hop beats—music is tied to us in ways we can’t possibly explain.

And in a world where technology gives us better and easier access to things we love, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and other digital platforms provide us the joy, comfort, and convenience of listening to our favorite artists and albums. Taylor Swift? Check. Up Dharma Down? Check. My Chemical Romance? Check.

Still, there’s no denying the nostalgia a simple vinyl brings. Those huge, phonograph disc records? Yeah, fun fact: those have been inviting listeners and collectors since the 1900s.

Provider of top-notch, classic, and underrated records, the brand Satchmi brings the craft and art of vinyl to life once again and people’s love for them with Vinyl Day 2019.

Last July 13 was their eighth annual trademark event, and co-presenting with Levi’s, lovers of music and collectors thrived with the marvel of embracing the vintage and antique vinyl records—at 15% off for the really vintage ones, and 50% off for the rest!

Super sulit for vinyl collectors and even starting vinyl collectors—even their signature turntable brand, the Motorino was up for special offers. Satchmi and Levi’s brought these people together for a hobby and an art that they enjoy and appreciate today—even in the age of technology and online music streaming. Alongside these, music lovers got to celebrate live local music. A few of the bands and artists who performed were Over October, Kremesoda, Clara Benin, and Autotelic.

Three first-timers at Vinyl Day shared their thoughts with us. Mike said that he’s trying to get back into vinyl collecting by being at the event—he used to do so only at vintage shops. “You also get to meet people who enjoy the same thing as you do,” he added, “‘Yung iba kasi pa-cool lang, like they’re riding the wave. Here, it keeps the vinyl business alive, as well as the craft and art of enjoying music. You also get the best deals, even with limited records—also players and cleaning kits.”

Karla, meanwhile, is a starting vinyl collector. She told us that Vinyl Day 2019 was the first event that she got to purchase her first records. A great starting point, Karla!

Lastly, Nina has been a vinyl collector for three years now—and she has an estimated number of thirty vinyls already! She shared that the discounts for the vinyls were great, and that the local bands performing were a plus.

Satchmi’s Vinyl Day 2019 really continues to keep the vinyl love alive. Their theme Your Yearly Vinylscope also brought us closer to the universe: Satchmi arranged their records according to star signs, too! To name a few: Gemini people like me, your vinyls are Oasis’ Definitely Maybe and Snow Patrol’s A Hundred Million Suns. To Leo babies, Beyonce’s Lemonade is for you, as well as Charli XCX’s True Romance. To Cancers: The Cranberries’ Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?, and Arctic Monkey’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
