The Chemical Engineering Week 2014: The Force Unleashed is the Star Wars-themed celebration of the UP Chemical Engineering Department’s achievements for the past year. It offers a mix of new and all-time favourite events.

The celebration kicks off with the Opening Day on February 11, where the line-up of events is formally introduced and recreational booths by the department’s organizations are held. Also on the same day is the much-awaited Beat That Prof 6.0: Revenge of the Sith. In this quiz show that’s ‘1 vs. 100’ and ‘Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader’ combined, students face three mystery professors in a battle of brains and luck. This is followed by the Internship Colloquium on February 12. It aims to open students in their penultimate year to more opportunities for internship, as well as to aid them in getting one. The event will feature representatives from different companies, such as Chiyoda, Fluor, and Salinas Salt Company. Senior students who had previously become interns will also talk about their experiences and share their knowledge on how to get accepted to that dream company.

The next day features the students’ much-needed break from their academics with UnChEcked: Mind Combat. This team quiz show covers anything under the sun, except for chemical engineering. Finally, the celebration ends with a dinner party on the Culminating Night: Queen Amidala’s Ball on February 14. It showcases the Han Solo’s and Princess Leia’s of each batch in the Mr. and Ms. ChE 2014 pageant night. Awards will also be given to academically excellent students, and students who actively participated during the Chemical Engineering Week.
