Those with the spirit of wanderlust know that the season for traveling is all year round. Whenever we set foot in a new place, we add experiences in our memory bank. Aside from taking pictures, how else could we immortalize those experiences?
With Travel the Write Way: A Travel Writing Workshop, we’ll help you turn your vacations into travel stories where you can share your thoughts, travel tips, and experiences to a much bigger audience.
Facilitating the workshop will be Ana P. Santos and Nikka Sarthou-Lainez of Writer’s Block Philippines, an organization dedicated to empowering writers, communicators, and creative entrepreneurs.
“In this event, we’ll discuss the basics of travel writing to help aspiring writers get their stories published,” shares Santos, a journalist who focuses on women and gender issues. She is a regular columnist in Rappler and as the 2014 Persephone Miel Fellow for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, her work on labor migration has been published in The Atlantic and The Washington Post.
“We don’t require participants to have previously published works. As long as they like to travel or write—or both—and are at least 18 years old, they’re welcome to attend the workshop,” says Sarthou-Lainez, a lifestyle writer who was chosen as one of the five Asian representatives for Moleskine’s Modern Nomads in 2012.
The event will also feature Fruhlein Econar, a freelance photographer and staff writer for local travel publication GRID Magazine.
