Torch Restaurant International Cuisine in Greenhills San Juan

When In Manila and craving to have a taste of the finest international cuisine, Torch Restaurant is definitely where you should go!

While some restaurants choose to specialize in one type of cuisine, Torch Restaurant combines international fusion and exceptional culinary execution for that satisfying dining experience.

Last Tuesday night, my two friends and I decided to drop by at Torch Restaurant to have dinner.

Rick and Terrence took their seats while waiting for our food. I walked around and checked out the restaurant’s interiors. The place looked like a great venue  for dinner with friends or reunions because of the laid-back interiors and the privacy of Torch Restaurant’s location. The privacy here is also what some celebrities like about dining at Torch; they can enjoy their scrumptious food in peace.

These green dividers really caught my attention

I don’t usually eat a lot at dinner but when all the food were put at our table, I can’t help to get even more hungry. We were up for a bountiful feast that night!

Torch Restaurant Truffle Fries

Truffle Fries

We tried the Truffle Fries first. These are crispy potato fries tossed in truffle oil and served with their very own Peppermill dressing. I normally eat fries with catsup so this is something new for me. The fries were crunchy on some parts of the fries and soft in the others. The sauce really went well with the fries.

Torch Restaurant Volcano Sushi Roll

Volcano Sushi Roll

My friends tried the Volcano Sushi Roll next. It’s their baked sushi roll filled with tempura, tamago and Japanese cucumber, and topped with spice-baked U.S. scallops. I don’t eat sushi so I let them eat all of this one. While I was watching them eat, they kept on saying that it was delicious and it really tasted well with the sauce. Well, I did like the plating of this one. Look at the lava-like cheese oozing on top of the sushi!

Torch Restaurant Wasabi and Soy Sauce

Can’t help but notice the smiley face at the wasabi! 🙂

Torch Restaurant Gambas Pizza Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

Gambas Pizza (Left) and Philly Cheese Steak Pizza (Right)

These two pizzas were definitely my favorites that night! We ate the Gambas Pizza (with shrimp sauteed in chipotle garlic olive oil, served on top of a crispy pizza covered with mozzarella cheese) first. I’m actually allergic to shrimp but when I took a bite, it was too good to pass! I really loved the crust of the pizza. It was crunchy and had some flavors of its own which complimented the toppings. It had this spicy flavor since it’s the famous Spanish dish gambas remixed into a pizza. No hot sauce needed for this one (or maybe yes for more explosion in your mouth)!

The Philly Cheese Steak Pizza (classic Philly cheese steak sandwich filling on a fresh, oven-baked thin crust, topped with mozzarella and cream cheese) was also very delicious. The crust also had a flavor and it was like eating a sandwich and a pizza at the same time. Definitely a must-try too.

Torch Restaurant Fresh Omelette Preparation

Fresh Garden Omelette

When Tina brought the omelette to our table, the omelette mix was still in a white bowl. I thought the sizzling plate was hot and when she poured it in, it’ll cook in front of us. Instead, she brought out this little torch and started cooking our omelette by using the torch to heat it. It’s  great to have your omelette served hot because it tends to bring out more of the flavors of the other ingredients in it (sauteed green and red bell peppers, onions, button mushrooms, and tomatoes, topped with melted cheddar cheese). It was  yummy to eat with the pandesal and butter. A great meal to start up any day!

Torch Restaurant Salpicao Medallion

Salpicao Medallion

This was the first time that I tasted Salpicao. I asked the people from Torch if we can have the steak well done since I don’t eat medium rare meat. My friend said I shouldn’t have asked for it since well done steak is hard to eat because it’s not that tender. When we ate the Salpicao, he got surprised because it was really tender! We really tasted the herb flavors in every bite. The rice had herb flavors too and the vegetables were cooked just right.

Torch Restaurant Tartufo Pasta

Tartufo Pasta

This creamy truffle mushroom pasta in fettuccini dish is perfect for the pasta-loving foodies out there. If I wasn’t that full when we ate this, I could have eaten more of it! Looks like the boys loved it because they managed to finish it despite feeling full.

Torch Restaurant Pandan de Rosa

Pandan de Rosa

When the drinks were brought to our table, all three of us thought “Wait a minute. The drink looks like it’s gonna spill!” Then we noticed that the glass was diagonal. How quaint!  This is basically a rose-colored pandan drink.

Torch Restaurant Dim Lit

Rick (right): Dude, I think we ate too much. Terrence(left): I think so too.

Another cool thing about Torch is that when it hits 10 in the evening, they dim the lights and place electronic candles on top of the tables. It created a more relaxing ambiance for the customers. Perfect for relaxing after a hard day’s work and hanging out there with your friends or family while enjoying good food.

Torch Restaurant staff

The staff was also very accommodating and friendly. Overall, our dining experience was splendid! I’m definitely going back to try the other food choices from their menu.
