The Voice Kids PH's Esang Joins the Cast of #LesMisManila

Rachelle Ann Go is our country’s pride in the Philippine leg of the Asian tour of Les Misérables, but another Filipina will soon join her on stage.

The Voice Kids season 2 top 4 finalist Esang de Torres impressed producer Cameron Mackintosh that she is now an alternate for the young Cosette, one of the key characters of the Victor Hugo turned Broadway musical.

As the young Cosette, Esang will sing “Castle on a Cloud,” in relation to finding a home where she will not be enslaved by the Thénardiers, innkeepers who take her in while her mother Fantine works.

When Fantine passes away, Jean Valjean adopts her and raises her as his own.

Since its premiere in 1980, Les Misérables has been seen by over 70 million people in 44 countries and in 22 languages, with 125 awards to boot.

Esang achieved considerable fame when she joined It’s Showtime‘s “Mini Me” segment, where children would imitate their idols. Esang dressed as Lea Salonga in the musical Annie, and sang “Tomorrow.”

Later on, she joined The Voice Kids, where Salonga, Bamboo, and Sarah Geronimo turned for her (Salonga even recognized her) during the blind auditions. She chose Salonga as her mentor and ultimately made it to the top 4.
