It’s been 15 years since The Suite Life of Zach and Cody premiered on television and filled our childhood days with fun and laughter. And with so many Disney shows and films of the past being revived and rebooted lately, fans are wondering if The Suite Life will ever join the bandwagon sometime in the future.
Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, star Cole Sprouse aired out his thoughts about the topic.
He first shared why he thinks fans are so in love with the old show. “Even the way I remember a lot of those kids shows that I grew up on or [grew up] watching, they sort of fit within this golden, nostalgic little bubble.” He continued, “So, there’s always this tendency to glorify the things that we grew up with, especially the programming we grew up with. I think, thankfully, our show has held the test of time.”
But with regard to ever going back to the show and reviving it, he believed it’s best left alone as it was.
“I don’t think it should be done if I’m being honest,” he said. “I think there’s a huge potential to kind of demolish that perfect little golden memory of a program if you go back and you revive it.”
He admitted that he’s “not the biggest fan of the sequel and the spinoff thing” in general and that he and his costars wouldn’t be able to play their characters the same way as before.
“I think if enough time elapses, everyone who comes back to a program like that, they’re not really in the same headspace,” he explained. “So, to try and capture the same feeling that it was, in at least my childhood, that sort of strange age of sitcom when we were four-camera, live audience, and filming in Hollywood … I don’t know how it would feel.”
