As Alicia Keys said, New York is the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. I just can’t wait to get on a plane to New York while listening to Taylor Swift singing ‘Welcome to New York’ as I go down the steps of the plane stairs. New York is definitely on top of my bucket list and I can’t wait to get there one day. In the meantime, though, instead of sobbing in a corner and wondering how to get there, here are a few movies that I recommend to wash those wanderlust blues away in a jiffy. (Or it might make you wanna go to New York more – sorry, if so!)
10 Movies to Watch When You’re Longing to Travel to New York
10. The Royal Tenenbaums
If you’re up for a visually aesthetic film, this one’s for you. (A Wes Anderson film is always appealing to the eyes!) This quirky movie is about a family with separated parents and three exceptionally unique and talented children clouded with the idea of betrayal and failure when they grew up after the separation of their parents. It revolves around their unexpected reunion and their life after two decades.
9. Little Manhattan
Young love in New York City. Need I say more? Follow the story of Gabe, a sixth grader finding out about love in the streets of Manhattan and how he developed a little more than a crush for his partner in karate class. If I can’t convince you to watch this movie, maybe young Josh Hutcherson can. *wink wink*
8. New Year’s Eve
Watching the ball drop at Times Square is on my “tourist-y stuff to do when I’m in New York” list. This movie is more than that, though. It features several stories intertwined with each other with different backgrounds of people and what they are doing on New Year’s Eve. Ohh, and this movie stars Zac Efron, Lea Michele, Ashton Kutcher and Halle Berry, to name a few in case you needed more convincing.
7. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
If you’re down for a 50’s New York vibe, let Audrey Hepburn tour you around. This is a classic and a must0watch film. It is a classic boy-meets-girl story that will surely tickle your hearts into loving both New York and the quirky attitude of Audrey Hepburn in the movie.
6. Spider-Man
New York is also the place to be for superheroes. One of our favorite heroes lives in Queens and he’s ready to swing by any skyscraper to save you. Every Spider-Man film features the picturesque view of the city and the bustling streets of it, especially during the fight scenes.
