The Change We Want to See: My World, the United Nations Global Survey for a Better World

The Change We Want to See: My World, the United Nations Global Survey for a Better Worldmark a difference

As part of the global celebration of the MyWorld Week of Action of the United Nations, the Junior Chamber International-Fort Bonifacio Taguig City (JCI Fort Bonifacio Taguig City or JCI-FBTC) formally launched a campaign dubbed as The Change We Want to See.  ‘The Change We Want to See’ campaign is to encourage communities to take part in My World, the United Nations Global Survey for a Better World.  MyWorld is one of the largest surveys in history to hear from people of the world about their priorities for the future.

Through ‘The Change We Want to See,’  JCI FBTC seek to inspire awareness of the global survey and solicit responses from people by way of voting in the survey with the help of various communication platforms from social media to print and broadcast media.  Forums shall also be conducted under the program on the UN Millenium Development Goals and the Post 2015 Goals to create awareness and encourage social action in the different communities.  Offline voting avenues will also be conducted under the program.

The UN MDGs and Post 2015 Goals and JCI.  In September 2000, world leaders gathered together at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, USA and adopted the UN Millennium Development Goals. These eight time-bound goals, focusing on poverty, education, health, equality, sustainability and development, were set to encourage active citizens to improve their communities and the world.   JCI (as a global organization of young active citizens present in more than 100 nations) has taken a leadership role to promote the advancement of the UN MDGs through various programs that has been initiated and supported globally.   The MDGs have proved to be most successful global anti-poverty movement in history, but more has to be achieved after 2015.

Taking part through MyWorld.  The conversation continues to grow around the post 2015 world.   It is crucial that a truly open and inclusive process, engaging people from all sectors of society worldwide, forms the new global development agenda. The UN and the Secretary General’s High Level Panel on post 2015 want to hear directly from engaged global citizens about what is most important to them and their community.   As 2015 quickly approaches, now is the time to determine the new set of goals and initiatives to sustain the positive change created through the framework of the MDGs. The UN and other organizations want to hear from YOU!

MY World asks individuals which six of sixteen possible issues you think would make the most difference in your life and the lives of those around you. The sixteen issues have been built up from the priorities expressed by impoverished people in existing research and polling done through make money surveys that have been previously offered. As well as from ongoing technical and political discussions about possible future global goals. They cover the existing MDGs, plus issues of sustainability, security, governance and transparency. There is an also an option to write in your own idea as the seventeenth issue. You will be asked your gender, age and country, to allow data collection and present decision makers with an accurate global picture of what citizens think is most crucial for the post 2015 plan.
