LOOK: Team Pilipinas participates at the 2017 ICU Cheerleading Worlds!

Cheerleading is beginning to rise to popularity (yes, it’s a sport!) in the country and we cannot thank our cheerleaders enough for endlessly supporting our favorite athletes in their tournaments and games. In the ICU (International Cheer Union) World Cheerleading Championships, it’s the cheerleaders’ chance to shine. The event is also described as the “Olympics of cheerleading”, according to Spin.ph.

Now on its fourth time joining the annual, prestigious tournament; Team Pilipinas hopes to snag a podium finish similar to their participation in the previous years.

According to Spin.ph, “[National Cheerleading Championship President Mr. Itos] Valdes said three of the four teams are “all-star” level with selected members from the champions of the recently held 2017 national finals of the National Cheerleading Championships.

The Cheer Pom team has a puncher’s chance to podium this time, even if they are competing for the first time,” he adds.

According to CheerUnion.org, this is the schedule as follows:

Thursday, 27 April 2017

Co-ed Elite – 10:48 AM (Florida Time)

All Girl Elite – 1:30 PM (Florida Time)

Freestyle Pom – 2:46 PM (Florida Time)

Cheer Hiphop – 4:44 PM (Florida Time)

The Philippines (PHT) is ahead of Orlando, Florida (EDT) by twelve hours. Do the math, and yes – viewing is at the wee hours of the morning here in Manila. But trust us – watching our athletes tumble, soar, fly, lift and break down on the mats is totally worth it!

Wishing all the best to our country’s athletes! <3
