Starting yesterday, a total of 31,719 units were reportedly allowed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to resume operations within Metro Manila – 18,818 of which are transport network vehicle service (TNVS) units like Grab, while the other 12,906 are taxis.

There are no fare adjustments upon the resumption of operations of the approved units. However, under the LTFRBÂ Memorandum Circular 2020-018, the agency mandated the resumption of taxis and TNVS on areas under GCQ to implement cashless or digital payment options to further contain the spread of COVID-19 by limiting physical contact.
Drivers and operators are also reminded to strictly observe health and safety protocols included in the memorandum earlier released by the Board. These are mandatory wearing of face masks and gloves, regular disinfection of units after every ride or every two hours, and installation of non-permeable and transparent barriers.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr)’s guidelines include that the maximum passenger capacity is three (apart from the driver).
