The Tamagotchi is Back… in Glitter and in Color!

When I was about nine years old, there was nothing else that me and my siblings and classmates wanted more than a Tamagotchi. In case you weren’t weren’t around during that time, Tamagotchis were really popular egg-shaped virtual pets by Bandai that you carried around on a keychain. They were as needy and as clingy as actual pets, and kids got so obsessed with the things that teachers started banning them at schools. A band called Sqeezer even made a song about them back in the day:

Well, the little things are making a comeback in the form of Tamagotchi On, and they’re even cuter this time around coming in a glittery egg case and in a full color screen instead of the black-and-white screen I was used to as a kid. They’ll have more options than we had, such as eating at home or eating at a restaurant, getting married, and having kids. You can also your Tamagotchi to the mobile app and connect with your friends. All of these updates are absolutely perfect for the new techie generation.

Now that I think about it, I love how this is being released now that my daughter is the same age that I was when I first got a Tamagotchi myself. :p Check out this video to see more about it;

Why should you get your kids a Tamagotchi? It may just look like a random toy, but trust me: I learned a lot about taking care of pets and kids through this thing. It was the first time I learned anything about responsibility, and I will definitely be getting one for my daughter, too.

(Check out other toys from the 90s that we miss here.)

Tamagotchi On is set to be priced at US$60 (around Php3,000) and is set to be released on July 28, 2019. Will you be getting one of these?
