The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Saturday that the Philippines will be experiencing cooler days at the beginning of February. According to the government agency, this colder weather is due to the northeast monsoon (more commonly known as amihan) that is currently felt in the eastern part of Luzon. But in the coming days, the surge of amihan will affect other parts of the country, too.

Baguio City already felt the effect of the northeast monsoon, with the summer capital’s temperature dropping to 10 degrees Celsius early in January 31st. This trend is reported to continue the following days, with temperatures ranging between 13 to 24 degrees this week.
Metro Manila and most of Luzon will also have fair and cool weather at the beginning of February. PAGASA’s forecast states that these areas will experience temperatures ranging from 22 to 29 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Visayas, and Mindanao satellite images show cloudy skies forming, which will possibly bring light rain in the said areas.
