LOOK: We’re Getting Two More Spider-Man Movies!

“Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse” hasn’t even been released but Sony Pictures is reportedly already gearing towards an entire franchise.

While the studio can’t be sure of its overall success, early reviews for the animated movie have been great.

Put that together with the hype from the fans and things are looking good for Sony.

They might finally get to create that superhero universe they’ve been looking for ever since the original Spider-Man trilogy.

According to reports by Variety, the continuation of the Spider-verse extends to not just one, but two projects at Sony Pictures Animation. The first picks up as a sequel to “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse”, while the second is a vague all-female spin-off.

The sequel is expected to be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos. You would know him from his time working on Avatar: The Last Airbender and Justice League: Unlimited. While the screenplay is in the equally good hands of David Callaham, who has worked on Wonder Woman 1984 and Zombieland 2.

Fewer details are sure for the spin-off but it’s been said Lauren Montgomery (Voltron, Young Justice) and Bek Smith (Zoo) will be leading the project as Director and Screenwriter respectively. The plot is supposed to center around “three generations of women with Spidey powers.” Fans are already bouncing off ideas from Madame Web to Spider-Girl. Personally, I hope we get to see a sassy Spider-Gwen swinging around New York City.

Whatever the case, it looks like Sony is gonna have a lot in store for us! So who (or what) would you like to see in this new hero-verse?
