ABOUT THE FILMS

Ang mga Alingawngaw sa Panahon ng Pagpapasya

Amidst the socio-political struggles of the “Bagong Lipunan” era, Red grows up with his family as an ordinary boy. He then finds himself caught between the conflicts brought by his mother’s unbending ideologies and his father’s apolitical instinct to protect his family.

After witnessing the oppressive power of dictatorship and false promises of the new government, the changing zeitgeist over the course of history turns Red into someone he was clueless he would become.

Alingawngaw recently, won Best Short Film, Jury Prize Winner and Best Actress (Alessandra de Rossi) at the recently concluded Singkuwento International Film Festival. It was also shown last year at the Sose International Film Festival in Armenia, JOGJA-NETPAC Asian Film Festival in Indonesia. It had its world premiere at the Pandayang Lino Brocka Film Festival.

Cast: Alessandra De Rossi, Karl Medina, Andre Tiangco and Micko Laurente

ALINGAWNGAW x BULONG Teaser

Ang mga Bulong sa Bituka ng Sta. Mesa

The film is composed of black and white images of Sta. Mesa (Manila) which are juxtaposed in its railroad that metaphorically connects the lives of each individual in the community. These images have been striking the heart and sympathy of the filmmaker for almost a decade of his life. These made him decide to make the community as the subject matter of this documentary to depict its harrowing situation.

Captured by a single camera and a keen eye, each moving picture is accompanied by stories of grief, of misery, hope and inspiration.

It competed to international film festivals such as Festival Transterritorial de Cine Underground in Buenas Aires, Argentina, Dragon Dreaming Festival in New South Wales, Australia, SalaMindaw International Film Festival in Cotabato, Philippines, Singkuwento International Film Festival where it won Best Documentary.  This coming May, the film will compete at the Taiwan International Documentary Festival and on June it will have its European premiere at the CinemAvvenire Film Festival in Rome, Italy.
