Love chicken nuggets? My daughter is a huge fan of chicken nuggets. It used to be her ‘reward’ whenever she did well at school. During quarantine, however, nuggets became more of a snack than a reward; and she got sick of them pretty quickly.

But then we discovered SomethingSomething…

SomethingSomething started in March 2018 when the owners converted their garage to a literal hole-in-the-wall type of comfort food house. “We came up with the name SomethingSomething because we believe that good food is something you can’t explain. You just taste and you feel it in your heart,” Patrick Ting, the owner, explains.

Things have been especially hard for SomethingSomething during the pandemic because they weren’t able to accept diners. Add to that the fact that most of their customers were students in the area who visited their spot for the chill ambience, good music, and affordable food.

Since they had a no-delivery policy prior to the pandemic, they really had to go back to the ol’ drawing board to find a way to survive and support their business and employees. That’s when they started to promote their food online. Of course, they wanted something not commonly found in the market, so they started developing their Baked Somegyupsal as early as April and launched it in May.

Their Baked Somegyupsal is perfect for those who love Korean food (and for those who have already had their fill of the sushi bake trend). It consists of your choice of Woo Samgyupsal or Pork Samgyupsal, your choice of Kimchi Rice or Chicken and Corn Rice, sesame seeds, SomethingSomething’s Signature Cheese, and of course some Nori to go with it! Their Baked Somegyupsal comes in a 9×6 tray and a pack of Nori for Php429 for Beef or Php399 for Pork.

As of writing, they have already catered to more than 250 people!

And now back to their nuggets… :p

As June ended, Patrick thought it would be the best time to re-launch their bestselling wings, as well as introduce another product they call “Nuggs”, which is slang for nuggets. And can I just say: They. Are. So. Good.

They don’t really look like nuggets. They look more like chicharon bulaklak or chicken skin at first glance, but they are delicious! Their flavors are inspired by their personal favorites, like UMAKARA and TAIWANESE (they are deeply into umami flavors).

The Nuggs also come with a delicious sauce that SomethingSomething makes in house from scratch. When you get your orders, the sauce will be separate from the food itself. This ensures that the nuggets stay crispy, and you can decide how much sauce you want on them. Trust me: you won’t stop dipping these babies into that sauce. They’re so addicting! Also, they’re only Php149!

In terms of delivery, SomethingSomething is currently using third party courier services like Grab, Angkas, Lalamove, and Happymove. They only do pre-orders on Instagram and Facebook, though, since they only prepare the right amount of orders per day to ensure their products’ freshness and quality of our products. They also provide reheating instructions stickers on their Baked Somegyupsal in case you need it.
