The ‘Snowpiercer’ Series is One Exciting Ride

Whether you’ve watched Bong Joon-ho’s movie version of ‘Snowpiercer’ starring the one and only Chris Evans or not, you should definitely watch the ‘Snowpiercer’ series on Netflix. Although critics didn’t exactly warm up to the series, I (for some reason) have. In fact, I finished the entire series in a day (I was fortunate enough to get press screeners before it started showing.)

Maybe I liked it because of my love for science fiction. Maybe I liked it because of my love for Jennifer Connelly. Or maybe I liked it because right now, it kind of hits close to home.

Snowpiercer Series 1

In case you have no idea what it is about yet, ‘Snowpiercer’ is set in our world… seven years after it became a frozen wasteland, that is. In this world, the survivors live in a huge train that perpetually circles the world. They’ve got everything in it from cattle to plants in order to survive. It’s like Noah’s Ark, if you will. However, the people in the train are split up into classes: the rich ones live in luxury near the front of the train, while the poor ones live in darkness near the end of the train. Of course, this leads to a lot of resentment, pressure, and anger.

‘Snowpiercer’ is relatable on many levels, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic currently going on. It will make you wonder how far you would actually go to survive, whether rules are actually meant to be followed, and what you would do when relationships are in the line of your survival.

Snowpiercer Series 2

Although some of the plot points of ‘Snowpiercer’ were a bit predictable, I still enjoyed it because there was always something going on in every episode. There literally wasn’t a single dull moment. There were scenes filled with action, scenes that made me think about what I would’ve done in those scenarios, and scenes with… dismemberment. (I like things that make me cringe; don’t judge me. :p)

I understand that ‘Snowpiercer’ might not be for everyone; but for a science fiction-loving gal like me, it was well worth the 10 hours that I spent binge-watching it.

Have you seen the first few episodes of ‘Snowpiercer’ yet? How are you liking it so far?
