Remix, the annual dance competition hosted by the La Salle Dance Company (LSDC) is on its seventh iteration. This year, the competition has been split into two categories: the All-Star and the Rookie categories, respectively.

The All-Star category is for dance crews which have competed for the past three years (from 2009), while the Rookie one is for teams which have only competed from the past year or two. The homegrown Lasallian dance crew, Skittlez, will field two teams this year, one for each category.

 

 

Skittlez, formed in 2007, is the longest-running active independent dance group of De La Salle University and De La Salle – College of St. Benilde. With a community of over a thousand on Facebook and having had almost a hundred active members throughout its five years, this group is ever-present in both the Manila hip-hop dance community and its Taft-based home university. Skittlez has about a hundred performances under its colorful belt. Notable performances include a televised UAAP season opening with Gary V and music partners of Coca-Cola during the London Olympics “Move to the Beat” campaign.

 

 

Rookie Team – “Skittlez All-Stars”

The Skittlez All-Stars team is made up of some of the newest and youngest members of the dance crew. While relative newcomers to competitive dance, Remix 2012 is a great opportunity for them to showcase the deep talent base of the successful Skittlez dance system: no auditions, no paid coaches, and no prerequisites.

  

 

Team members: Micah Pinto, Iris Quintana, Audrey Bautista, J-mi Cruz, Eyang Recoter, Osay de Boda, AJ Jose, Trixie Waasdorp.

 

 

All-Star Team – “Skittlez”

The best the crew can offer, these select few will go on stage with a huge challenge on their shoulders: make Skittlez the only Remix team to win the championship four times, and become the first three-peat winners of the dance competition.
