I Went the Extra Mile to Make Hand Care a Habit with These Antibac Hand Creams!

These months spent in self-quarantine have made me get used to having dry and chapped hands due to frequent hand-washing and hand sanitizing. But just because I’ve somehow accepted it as part of my daily life doesn’t mean it should be! If there’s anything I’ve learned in this pandemic, after all, is that there should be no room in our lives for complacency; we need to go the extra mile to take care of our health, our bodies, and our skin.

So when I tried out local brand Skin Therapy’s hand creams and face serum, I went in with high hopes and firm resolve in improving my skin so that I could feel my best even while stuck at home.

Skin Therapy is the passion project of race car driver Gabie Desales who wanted to develop her own product to help remedy her dry and calloused hands from wearing driving gloves constantly. It then came to life at an opportune moment, when everyone started experiencing the dilemma of dry hands due to frequent hand sanitization.

But the hand creams aren’t like your ordinary lotions; it’s got one important and unique ingredient that gives it antibacterial properties. Yup, you’re reading that right—these lotions don’t just moisturize; they also help protect your skin against bacteria for added protection after washing and sanitizing your hands!

When I first applied the cream to my hands, I noticed instantly how smooth and fragrant it is. It wasn’t greasy nor did it leave an annoying film on my hands. It was readily absorbed by my skin!

There are three unique scents for you to choose from their Naturalé Collection: White Haze (with Ginger Essence), Lavender Moonrise, and Thin Mint. According to Gabie, these scents were chosen specifically to get rid of nervous tensions amid uncertain times.

“We launched Skin Therapy during an interesting time in the world’s history and we all know how the pandemic can cause strong emotions such as fear and anxiety within us. Keeping this in mind, we decided to use three main scents that have been known to help elicit more positive feelings and make you feel more relaxed,” she told WhenInManila.com.

Out of the three, I’d say White Haze is an immediate go-to, primarily because it has the most subtle scent for me. It’s enough to get me by without overwhelming my senses while I work which is a huge plus considering I have a sensitive nose.

This isn’t to say that the fragrances of Lavender Moonrise and Thin Mint are off-putting. In fact, it’s the opposite! I loved how both smelled too, but if I was going to reach for one for frequent use, White Haze would be it. Meanwhile, Thin Mint would be something I’d use to perk me up in the morning or to relax after hearing not-so-good news, while Lavender Moonrise would be what I’d slather on after my evening skincare, to ease me into a good night’s rest.

Then, there’s the whitening face serum aimed to whiten and hydrate your skin.

“We have heard multiple times from experts that we need our daily dose of vitamin D, and it is of utmost importance that we wear our face masks. This is where we saw another opportunity to address a possible problem — abiding by health protocols while making sure our skin still gets the love, care, and attention it needs,” Gabie shares.

The not-so-ordinary serum is packed with Glutathione, Vitamin B3, and Kojic Acid that helps make sure that even with 30 minutes of sun exposure every morning and wearing of face masks every day, our skin will still have that healthy, radiant, moisturized, and all-natural glow.

I apply it all over my face in the morning and in the evening, especially on my dark spots, and even on my elbows after bathing.

What I like about it is that it doesn’t leave a sticky or drying residue. After leaving it on overnight in my sleep, I noticed that it didn’t break me out!

Skin Therapy is definitely a nifty thing to have during these times when our hands and skin need the most love. It delights me especially that these products are made with all-natural ingredients, are paraben-free, and have no preservatives. They’re also a travel-friendly too—easy to stash in my tiny bag or in my pocket when leaving the house for errands.
