While the Golden State Warriors extend their record to 18-0, The Philadelphia 76ers are also breaking records on the other side of the coin.
Downed by the Huston Rockets, 116-114, last Friday evening, the Sixers just went 17 straight loses in the season with one more lose to tie NBA’s worst opening record.
The Rockets were in control of the game right from the tip-off, leading the game throughout all three quarters.
The Sixers, however, made a strong rally in the start the fourth quarter, unleashing a 24-8 run to take a five-point lead. But the Rockets crushed their rally to take the lead again at the 5-minute mark, holding onto it for good until the end of the game.
Huston Rockets’ James Harden scored 50 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. He was followed by Dwight Howard with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Both players bagging a 50% and 57% Field Goal percentage, respectively.
For the Sixers, Robert Covington had 28 points, seven rebounds, and five assists; he closed with 58% FG. Isaiah Canaan had 23 points, two rebounds, and two assists, ending with a 53% FG.
Philadelphia is one loss away from the New Jersey Nets’ NBA-worst mark of 18 losses to open a season, while setting the longest losing streak in Major US professional sports history of 27 loses in a row combining this season and last season.
The Sixers are scheduled to play against the Memphis Grizzlies.
