BGC – a known area of emerging establishments and restaurants, an area where traditional meets contemporary! And here we met Shingetsu! A modern Japanese restaurant on Bonifacio High Street!

 

 

There’s really a lot of things you could say about Shingetsu, but personally, my favorite things about this Japanese restaurant is their ambiance. The paintings around the area provide a real Japanese feel. (Though I haven’t really been to Japan. I’m just assuming this is what I’ll expecting when I get there.)  The wooden ceiling and geisha paintings? Very Asian indeed! 

 

 

Of course we wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for the food!

 

 

The first thing we had were the prawns. It’s tempura with mayo mango dip! A combination of saltiness and sweetness. The prawns are crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside once you take a bite. It’s nice to try, especially for people who want to explore spicy food, as it has a spicy kick in the end! It’s truly a delightful treat. 

 

 

The second dish was the swordfish. Is this beautiful or what?! I was actually too shy to indulge in it at first as the presentation was too beautiful to crack and break into pieces! 

 

 

We also had their pork garlic stew – tender pork chunks in a very light soup. I would compare this dish to Philippine’s nilaga at it has some similarities. It’s not that strong when it comes to flavour, but you’ll appreciate it since it can stand alone.

 

 

Another personal favorite is the gyudon! Soft beef with egg and rice. The egg is runny, so the yolk will really cover the beef and rice for more flavor! You can have it served separated from the rice or together. 

 

 

I am usually very picky when it comes to uncooked fish and seafood because of my allergies, but one thing I liked about their sashimi is that it does not have a fishy smell – meaning it is fresh! Plus, it’s really soft!  

 

 

For dessert, they have Japanese style pancakes. Rice noodles fried in batter with a maple syrup and mangoes! 

Shingetsu is definitely a fun Japanese restaurant to visit with your friends and officemates! I suggest you grab your friends and dine in Shingestu for a delightful meal!
