Shanghai Disneyland reopens with enhanced health and safety measures

After closing down due to COVID-19 concerns, Shanghai Disneyland finally opened its doors to the public again. This time, the park has more enhanced health and safety measures.

In a press release by Shanghai Disneyland, they said, “The initial park reopening will demonstrate a deliberate approach, drawing on the experience from the successful reopening of Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March, and implement enhanced health and safety measures.”

The theme park opened again last May 11, after being shut down for around several months. During this reopening, the park instituted new measures like including opening with limited attendance and social distancing in queues. They also implemented an increased frequency of sanitization and disinfection of the park.

There are no plans for Disney to reopen their other parks, but Shanghai Disneyland hopes that this could serve as a blueprint for what other international Disneyland parks can do when they open again.
