Serena Williams’ name just got even bigger.
Sports Illustrated just recently announced that Serena Williams is their sportsperson of the year; the first solo female athlete to be honored by the magazine in the past 30 years, says reports.
Other than Williams, runner Mary Decker is the only solo female athlete to win the award 32 years ago in 1983.
According to reports, Williams ranked No. 1 throughout 2015 and won three major tournaments: Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon among other achievements in 2015.
Williams is currently playing for the Philippine Mavericks in the International Premier Tennis League, which recently held its Manila leg in the Mall of Asia Arena.
