Salt Bae Is Opening Restaurants In London and NYC

Way to strike while the iron is hot!

Salt Bae

Turkish chef Nusret Gökce had turned himself into an overnight celebrity, after his video of him sensually cutting steaks and sprinkling salt in total extra flair turned into a meme and quickly went viral. But our favorite #SaltBae, as it turns out, is worth his salt as a prolific chef! Just when his publicity is at an all-time high, Chef Nusret is set to open new chains of his restaurant Nusr-et in London and New York City!

Our prediction is that patrons will line up just to see Chef Nusret dramatically sprinkle salt onto his meats in person, provided he can stay relevant months after his viral meme. But #SaltBae shared that he wasn’t showing off on camera when he did that notable wrist flick; it’s actually his signature finishing touch to the meat!

“It is just my signature. You can think of it a kind of final touch for a painting. It was a final touch to the meat; I was blessing the meat.”

Since opening his first restaurant in 2010, Chef Nusret now has five steakhouses and two burger joints in Turkey and Dubai.

Thoughts on this? Will you be lining up for his restaurant?
