Salomon Citytrail Manila: Their First-Ever Run Kicks Off at Intramuros
With more Filipinos realizing the benefits of a fit and healthy lifestyle, alternative exercises such as running have become very popular. Giving us a different kind of adventure to our run, Salomon brought us an exciting and unforgettable experience with the first-ever Salomon Citytrail Manila run, which was held last September 7 at Intramuros, Manila.
Salomon Citytrail is a global event also conducted in other countries including the US, and select countries in Europe and Asia. Now in the Philippines, Salomon Citytrail Manila aims to promote the “Elevate Your Run” campaign, a conventional way of running and trying to stay fit and active in more ways than one.
Not known to many, Citytrail running is more “off-road” where you get to run on different surfaces within the city like sidewalks, bridges, alleyways, stairs, dirt-roads, etc.
Intramuros was the perfect venue for Salomon Citytrail Manila because it gave us a more exciting and FUN way of running while exploring the marvelous historical heritage that “the walled city of Intramuros” has to offer.
It was a huge success as more than 500 participants made up of health buffs, running enthusiasts, celebrities and adventure seekers ran within the walled city. It was not your typical fun run as runners had to go up and down stairs and ramps, run on uneven terrain and travel to narrow alleys. Not an easy feat, but all worthwhile and enjoyable!
The event also proved to be a certified green run as they did not provide any disposables to the runners. Instead, Gatorade dispensers and water jugs were stationed around the venue.
The best part, though, was just enjoying the run, in general. The race promptly began at 4pm, which was the best time to explore and be captivated by the beauty of the place. Some even got a chance to watch the sun set beyond the city.
After the race, all registrants received a Salomon Citytrail cap and a post race meal. To make the event more fulfilling and memorable, all 12k finishers also received a Citytrail Finisher’s medal. Meanwhile, the top three male and female finishers per category (6k and 12k) were awarded with R.O.X. gift certificates, Salomon products, and other freebies (congrats to them!). Plus, raffle items were given away as a treat to the participants.

I never realized how much FUN I would get out of a fun run until now. I’m glad that I got the chance to discover this new and exciting way of running. Again: running doesn’t need to be monotonous and ordinary. As Salomon’s campaign suggests, “Elevate Your Run” When In Manila.
