Rocketman’s Dexter Fletcher to Direct ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’

Good news, Sherlock fans! It seems like the third installment of the Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr. is well on its way. According to Variety, Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher has joined the team and is going to direct the film.

Fletcher is stepping into the shoes of Guy Ritchie who directed the first two films. Sources have allegedly reported that Warner Bros.

has been planning a third film for a while now, but Downey’s Marvel commitments kept them from moving forward.

With Downey now free from any MCU obligations, we’ll probably be getting more updates on the Sherlock front. Aside from the actor returning for the titular role, Jude Law (who also had a brief Marvel stint) is also expected to return as Professor Watson.

The film was originally planned to come out Christmas Day of 2020 but the studio has pushed it back to 2021.
