28 BLACK and PULP LIVE WORLD are set to bring the cool, irie vibes this summer with REBELUTION LIVE IN MANILA this April 11, 2015 at SM Skydome, SM North EDSA, Quezon City. This will mark the first time in the Philippines for the Santa Barbara, California-based reggae roots band that was recently honored by Billboard for releasing the #1 selling reggae album of 2014, Count Me In.

Rebelution is comprised of Eric Rachmany (guitar, vocals), Marley Williams (bass), Rory Carey (keyboards) and Wesley Finley (drums). They are primarily known for their brand of reggae music fused with rock and world, flavored with crafty melodies, socially-conscious lyrics and savvy musicianship.

Their first full-length album Courage to Grow was released in 2007 and became their breakthrough album. It garnered mass downloads and major airplay in some of the largest rock stations in California. The album was selected as iTunes Editor’s Choice for Best Reggae Album of 2007. In addition, Courage to Grow peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. Two years later, Bright Side of Life was officially released and dominated the iTunes charts, reaching the top spot in the reggae music genre, and the No. 3 spot for top albums downloaded in the United States in all genres of music. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart and No. 34 on Billboard ’s Top 200. It was the first release under their own label, 87 Music. Their 2012 album Peace of Mind, which debuted at no. 13 on the Billboard 200 charts, No. 1 Independent and No. 1 Reggae, and the No. 4 iTunes album overall, sold 16,000 copies in its first week despite giving away half the album free to their fans over the 6 weeks prior to release. Their aforementioned 2014 album Count Me In debuted as the No. 14 album on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and the No.

1 Billboard Reggae album. They have played in major festivals such as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, among many others. They were selected as the headliner in reggae festivals such as the California Roots Music and Arts Festival and The Reggae Rise Up Festival in Florida.

In a 2011 interview with Press-Telegram News, Rachmany offered his take on the band’s evolving sound: “Our first album, we kept it a little more roots-y. And then we realized through the songwriting process that reggae is a form of music that you can manipulate to sound like a rock song, a pop song or jazz. You can even make it like a blues song if you want to. As we grow as a band, we’re figuring out how to create pretty much an endless stream of possibilities.”
