LOOK: Kpop Star Rain’s 2017 ‘Gang’ MV Goes Viral After Fans Make Fun of Dance Steps

Recently, the name of Kpop star Rain suddenly started trending on social media when his 2017 music video for his song “Gang” resurfaced online following a viral dance cover by a High School student. The thing is…the comeback to popularity wasn’t originally for a flattering reason at all.

Apparently, the “Gang” music video reportedly started trending because newer and younger Kpop fans were surprised and confused by the “bizarre” dance moves. They started making fun of the steps and the video as a whole. Eventually, it gave rise to a new meme in Korea called “One GANG a Day” where people watch the video at least once every day to have a laugh and be relieved of stress amid the public health crisis.

When asked what he thought about his trending video, Rain seemed to be unfazed by the ridicule. “I’m very disappointed. Why do one ‘Gang’ a day? It should be at least three ‘Gang’ a day,” he said jokingly to the hosts of MBC’s Hang Out With Yoo last weekend. “One ‘Gang’ after breakfast, one ‘Gang’ after lunch and one ‘Gang’ after dinner.”

He shared that he has been having a lot of fun reading people’s witty comments about the music video and that he himself watches “Gang” seven times during the weekend. What a good sport!

Just in case you need to refresh your memory on what the music video looked like, here it is below:
