What a throwback! Well-loved sports anime, Prince of Tennis, is reportedly getting a new anime series 15 years after it went off the air!
The new anime, titled Prince of Tennis: Hyotei vs Rikkai, is expected to come out on TV sometime between 2020-2021. It’s going to be an all-new story with the anime’s original creator, Takeshi Konomi, overseeing it.
There are no official reports on this yet, however. No animation studio has staked claim over this project either. But fans are confident that it will happen, especially since the surprise announcement last year about the upcoming Prince of Tennis movie that was scheduled to premiere this year before the nationwide lockdown delayed its release.
According to Konomi, Ryouma! Rebirth Movie – The Prince of Tennis will tell an original story set between the events of the original anime series and its sequel. It’s unknown when it will officially be shown.
