Pregame: Music X Poetry Night

Sud

Music and poetry filled the hearts of more than 200 guests last July 9, 2016 at Throwback Resto Bar and Grill. Pregame aimed to promote the local music indie scene and spoken word poetry.

It was made possible through the performances of bands like Along Van Buren, Clubhouse and SUD. Guests were also entertained by solo artists such as Tricia Barretto, Mikee Bucu, Bullet Dumas and Johnoy Danao. Moreover, spoken word poetry was brought to life by Words Anonymous’s  Zuela Herrera, Jihad Mambuay and Serge Gabriel.

Bullet Dumas opened the show singing 3 originals including ‘Limguhit.’ Followed by Along Van Buren who got out of their comfort zone playing an acoustic version of one of their songs entitled ‘Katie.’ The first to perform from Words Anonymous was Jihad Mambuay setting the feels mood with his pieces– ‘Palakpak’ and ‘Para sa Naghihintay at Naiinip.’ Mikee Bucu,  the owner of Coffee Stache, also sang an OPM classic ‘Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko’ for the crowd. Clubhouse made the people believe in second chances with their original compositions such as ‘Mundo’ and ‘Nais.’ Zuela Herrera digged deep into everyone’s hearts with her piece ‘Marka.’ Tricia Barretto sang OPM hits like ‘12:51’ and ‘Makita Kang Muli.’ Her voice soothed the aching heart of her listeners. Johnoy Danao sang ‘Bakuran,’ where he dedicated to everyone who is hiding their love in friendships, and his other original songs too. Serge Gabriel taught us how to ‘Kame Hame Wave’ and that the sweetest thing you can give to someone is ‘Everyday.’ Ending the night was SUD. Zuela Herrera performed ‘Dulo’t Simula’ with them after which the band sang ‘Sila,’ a crowd favorite. SUD definitely accomplished their mission to give pleasure to everyone’s ears.

In partnership with Throwback Resto Bar and Grill who housed the event, Epic Events, wanted to express their appreciation to all the sponsors- Victory Central Mall and Coffee Stache, Smirnoff Mule gave each guest free drink, Lazada committed Php 100 off voucher to the first 200 guests, Zomato generously threw in Php 5,000 worth of gift certificates from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Wingstop.
