The Philippines International Furniture Show (PIFS) will take place on March 14 – 17 at SMX Convention Center, Manila. This is without question the most important event for the furniture industry in the country. It is where established and internationally recognized Filipino designers and manufacturers show what the Filipino design community is all about.

Taking place in the middle of the Asian spring season of furniture shows, PIFS 2014 will feature local and international exhibitors showing their newest collections of furniture, lighting, architectural components, interior accessories and accent pieces. The creativity and flair of the Filipino designers guarantees that this will be an important stop for local and international interior designers, specifiers and buying professionals, who are already in the region for the Asia Pacific shows.

“We have long been recognized for creativity and the ingenious use of locally available materials, with the key centers of excellence being Cebu, Pampanga and Manila. Historically, each of these regions were backed by their own associations and supported by their own shows,” said Christina Gaston, overall PIFS event chairwoman. “The Philippines International Furniture Show has united the regions and associations. It is now the central showcase for the national industry. It represents the entire country, promoting Filipino craftsmanship to the global market and we are excited to be organizing such a focused show that is supported by the national furniture industry, for the national furniture industry.” she added.

PIFS 2014 is jointly organized by the three biggest furniture associations in the country, namely Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. (CFIF), Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines (CFIP) – National, and Pampanga Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. (PFIF) and has garnered the support of many prestigious names in the industry including: A.Garcia Crafts, Inc., Accessoria Inc., Apy Cane Inc., Avanti Philippine Furniture, Inc., Azcor Lighting Systems, Inc., Betis Crafts Inc., Calfurn Mfg, Catalina Embroideries, Inc., Chrysara Mfg Inc., Clear Export Industries, Inc., Coast Pacific Mfg Corp., Country Accents, Inc., Cymru Fine Furnitures & Accessories, Designs Ligna, Inc., Detalia Aurora Inc., Diretso Phils Inc., E. “The Philippines is no longer the sourcing destination of the special few. The secret’s out! The show in March 2013 saw buyers coming from as far afield as North and South America, Europe, Russia, India, Africa, Australia and the Middle East. They were interior designers, architects and specifiers, hotel and restaurant operators, owners and managers, property developers and construction professionals, as well as professional buyers for specialty stores.” remarked Duke Zuluaga, CFIP-National Event Chairman. “We have top notch designers, working with proven manufacturers, producing quality product, at the right price. This is a serious proposition to buying professionals.”

“It is important to mention as well, that the Philippines currently has one of the fastest growing economies in Asia,” said Reggie Lastimoso, PFIF Event Chairman. “We have recently seen upwardly revised GDP forecasts for 2013, to 7%, and for 2014 to 6.1%. Buoyant investment, particularly in the construction and tourism sectors, has propelled domestic growth and augurs well for our industry as suppliers to the sector. At PIFS, we are expecting higher than ever attendance from our own designers and hospitality specifiers.” he added.
