Philippines sees massive spike of 272 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health just announced 272 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients this March 28, Saturday. This brings the total number of cases within the Philippines to 1,075.

This is now officially the largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases so far.

The DOH also reported a total of 68 deaths and 35 recoveries, as of 5:30 p.m. of March 28.

Yesterday’s total number of cases stood at 803 with a total of 54 fatalities and 31 recoveries recorded.

On March 17, President Rodrigo Duterte placed Luzon under an enhanced community quarantine to contain the spread of the virus. Employees were encouraged to work from home and public transportation was suspended.
