Budget Sec. Wendel Avisado issued Budget Circular 2020-4 last April 17, upgrading the pay of entry-level nurses from Salary Grade 11 to 15. This gives them a salary of P32,053 to P34,801, from a previous wage of P22,316 to P24,391.

The Department of Budget and Management likewise adjusted the position attributes of other nurses according to the Nurse I salary upgrade.

Nurse II positions have upgraded from SG-15 to 17, Nurse III from SG-17 to 19, Nurse IV from SG-19 to 20, Nurse V SG-20 to 22, and Nurse VI SG-22 to 24.

The adjustment shall be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2020, the date of effectivity of the circular. It covers nurses in all positions including regular, casual or contractual in nature, full-time or part-time, in national government agencies, including state universities and colleges and state corporations, as well as local government units (LGUs).

The only exemption is nurses working in government agencies that are not covered by the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS) under Republic Act (RA) No. 6758 and are implementing their own CPCS.
