Philippine Basketball Breaks World Record – A True Testament That ‘Basketball Never Stops’

The Philippines is a basketball crazy country, we always see makeshift basketball courts and players running around barefoot.

Last Monday, 24 players gathered up in Meralco gym to play for the country. It may not have been televised or watched by thousands of fans, but it was definitely a part of sports history.

The team had endured everything for the 6 days not just to break the World Record, but also to raise funds for Typhoon Yolanda survivors.

Guinness Director for records management team Turath Alsaraf awarded the certificate to Jacques Ruby, CEO of Access (Asian Cable Enterprises Inc.) and participants.

“It’s overwhelming. It shows that the Filipinos are really world beaters,” said Discovery-ACCESS chief operating officer Jacques Ruby.

Though the goal has been reached, basketball never stops and the team will not stop giving back. Philippine Basketball Marathon will continue in helping Typhoon Yolanda survivors as they are teaming up with Gawad Kalinga to build a basketball court in Negros Occidental.
