The Philippine basketball community is in shock and grief after 29-year-old Gilbert Bulawan of Blackwater unexpectedly passed away during practice, according to local reports.
The 6’5″ Blackwater giant was reportedly rushed to the Capitol Medical Center but efforts to revive the player were unsuccessful.
The Philippine Basketball Association posted a statement on their Twitter account:
We are very saddened to hear of the passing of one of our beloved players and a member of our PBA family, (cont) https://t.co/YlTKrhMdM4

Prior to joining Blackwater, Bulawan previously played with Meralco and Barako. Bulawan had no known ailments prior to his sudden passing.
Bulawan was part of the 2009 San Sebastian College team that won the NCAA men’s basketball championship that year, with Calvin Abueva as a former teammate.
Bulawan would have turned 30 on August 25.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones and the PBA.
