Be Prepared to Die from Laughter: “Patay Na si Hesus” is Coming to Netflix!

One of the funniest Filipino movies you’ll ever get to see in this lifetime is coming to Netflix this month!

“Patay Na si Hesus” (“Jesus is Dead”) is officially part of the next batch of local films coming to the global streaming platform and netizens online have since been expressing their excitement over its release.

Initially premiering in October 2016 before it was included in the lineup of the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, “Patay Na si Hesus” follows the story of a food vendor Iyay (Jaclyn Jose) who, after learning about the death of her estranged husband, Hesus, decides to drive all the way to Dumaguete from Cebu City to attend the funeral with her apathetic children, Hubert (Vincent Viado), Judith Marie or “Jude” (Chai Fonacier) and Jay (Melde Montañez). What it ends up being is a chaotic family road trip that will truly make you laugh out loud with its dark humor, satire, and cringeworthy (in the right way) moments.

The film is directed by Victor Villanueva and written by Fatrick Tabada, and went on to win the Audience Choice Award and Gender Sensitivity Award at the 2016 QCinema International Film Festival and the Jury’s Choice Award at the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

According to Netflix, the title will be released on December 20. Add it now to the list of movies for you to binge-watch this Holiday season!
